About Me

Hi! I’m Caroline and I’m a UCLA graduate (go Bruins ) with a degree in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Creative Writing. I grew up in Yorba Linda, Orange County, where I was an IB student, and received 1590/1600 on the SATs, and a 5 on the AP Calculus test. I chose my major because, although I was always that kid who loved every class, my heart always lied in riddles. To me, studying math was the closest I could get to being a professional puzzle solver. My other passion in life is writing, and I work on my craft every day. In the future, I hope to combine the two and publish a mystery.

My first tutoring experience was a high school internship with Disney’s G.O.A.L.S, where I recorded topical educational videos for K-12 students to support their education during COVID. In college, I did undergrad-level math subject tutoring through Ace tutors, primarily multivariable calculus and statistics. At the same time, I was president of the Writer's Den, a UCLA club where we offered free creative writing tutoring to local elementary, middle and high schools as community outreach. Currently, in addition to independent tutoring, I also do K-12 virtual group sessions as a High Dosage Tutor with tutor.com. My approach as a tutor is to meet the pace and learning style of the student, as I've seen first hand that everyone processes information differently. I also believe the first step any tutor has to take is to ignite passion within their pupil. I know math isn't most people's favorite subject, and many other's dislike having to read/write. But I believe much of this comes down to the clinical way these fields are often taught. I hope we can discuss how I can help you/your child on their educational journey!
